It was
1908, when the company
Xaudaró and Hermanos acquired the concession as the group's first private representative in Spain.
In 1926, Bosch products boasted technical and marketing assistance provided by Bosch's first subsidiary in our country, Equipo Bosch, S.A., headquartered in Barcelona and with branches in Madrid and Sevilla.
Development of the brand grew with the establishment of FEMSA, which manufactured magnetos for motorcycles and airplane engines in 1940, and designation in 1950 of the Spanish company Electro Diesel S.A., of Madrid, as Bosch's representative.
A name change for Constructora Eléctrica Española S.A. (CEESA) and a 50% share gave rise to the creation of Robert Bosch Española S.A. in 1967.
The new name, Robert Bosch Comercial Española S.A., is created following the acquisiton of Electro Diesel S.A.
in 1968/69.
In 1978 Bosch acquired majority shareholding in FEMSA.
The establishment of Bosch Siemens Electrodomésticos S.A. in 1984 would open new business horizons for the company; as for FEMSA , it merged with RBES in 1985, and in 1987 Robert Bosch GMBH took over Telenorma Española S.A.
In 1988 the manufacture of alternators was concentrated at Treto (Cantabria) and that same year, manufacture of electronic control modules and ignition coils is
expanded in Madrid.
In 1989, the joint company created by Bosch and Siemens , 50% devoted to the manufacture and marketing of household appliances and small electrical appliances (PAE), Bosch Siemens Hausgeräte (BSHG), acquires 50.3 % of Balay and 92.5 % of Safel.
Robert Bosch Spain S.A. is born of the merger of FEMSA and RBCE in 1990, the same year in which manufacture of horns was begun in La Carolina (Jaén).
Battery manufacturing is concentrated at the Guardamar del Segura (Alicante) plant in 1990/91.
In 1991 the manufacture of filters in Alcalá de Henares (Madrid) is expanded, as is the manufacture of electronic control modules at the Madrid factory, and the foundry at the Aranjuez factory.
The Bosch factory at Guardamar del Segura begins depending on the new VB Autobaterías, S.A. consortium, owned by Varta and Bosch in 1992.
1995 begins with a new structure for industrial activities at independent companies owned by a holding company; Robert Bosch Spain Financiación and Servicios S.A. (RBES)
The acquisition in 1996 of AlliedSignal, brake systems for passenger cars and light industrial vehicles gives rise to Bosch Sistemas de Frenado, S.L.U.
1999 Nacam Iberia, S.L. is added to the Bosch Group. as a consequence of the joint venture between Bosch and ZF. There is also the acquisition of UFESA, a leader in small household appliances in Spain.
In 2002 Bosch creates Bosch-Rexroth, as a result of the acquisition of Rexroth by Bosch.
The new regional organization for Bosch's Commercial Distribution in Western Europe came as the result of implementation of the euro zone, materializing in 2003 with the coordination of market responsibilities in Spain and Portugal with the creation of new regional sales director offices for Iberia. That same year, the merger of Philips CSI and Bosch's Detection Systems division results in the creation of Bosch Security Systems S.A.
Also in 2003 Robert Bosch GMBH acquires majority shareholding in Buderus AG, represented in Spain
under the name Buderus Calefacción, S.L located in Alcobendas (Madrid).
Early in 2007 Bosch inaugurated the Automotive Training and Technical Assistance Center as well as the Bosch Security Systems registered office in Madrid. This year, restructuring of its activities in the "Gasoline Systems" division in Spain is being settled. The manufacture of injection valves and fuel filters at the Alcalá de Henares center should be moved gradually, until production ceases at that factory in 2009.
The coming years will most certainly be a witness to new milestones for the group in our country.
